About me

I (Mike Savoy) have been in martial arts for many years. I started wresting in 2001, Judo in 2002, Wing Chun (Leung Sheung lineage) in 2014, and Wing Tsun (Leung Ting lineage) in 2019. Additionally, I have studied physics from 2007-2017, leading to an optimization view of the world. Upon finding Wing Chun, I fell in love with the economy of movement it offers; always taking an optimal path minimizing energy, as well as the "soft" side similar to Judo.

My first Wing Chun experience was very heavily focused on application, while my later Wing Tsun training was more balanced with technical finesse. All this incorporates into how I train students (see Training). While I did enjoy the control of grappling, locks, and strangles, it is very hard on the body. Wing Tsun is not so hard on the body and is great for all ages.
